6. How to Guess Quickly and Well
Here are some suggestions:
- (1) Guess whenever you can, even if you don't have no idea how to answer.
- (2) In practice, some of the Social Studies choices are less clear-cut than on other tests. You may have to guess more often.
- (3) Try hard to eliminate at least one choice, and two if possible. With every choice you eliminate, your chance of guessing right go up.
- (4) Some choices have nothing to do with the question. Eliminate these choices quickly.
- (5) More than 3/4 of the questions are multiple-choice, where it's easy to see how to guess. You'll almost certainly see the drag-and-drop and hotspot formats, so be sure you've thought about how to guess with them too.
- (6) On both GEDReady test and the real test, you can "flag" a question to make it easier to return. Just hit the "flag" button before you move to the next question. At the end of the test, the list of questions will show the flagged ones in red.
